"Finally" back on the Gold Coast, where there are still shorts and T-shirt that apply. Held to freeze my butt off to death in Melbourne, since I do not own much warmer clothes down here. May have to do something about it eventually ... Otherwise there is nothing joyful over to go from Melbourne, a city that pushed Sydney funenglish out of your favorite seat. 'Lane Highways', narrow alleys crisscrossing, and hidden treasures everywhere. I love the vibrant by cities that are growing ever larger, and the creative funenglish forces to be found there. Just a pity that I had, purely effective sets, one day exploring it. In Melbourne throng the small cafes and bars, restaurants, shops, exhibitions and performances. Not to talk about sports! (Are we talking Australian Open next year? Yes.) One day was just enough to snatch some test pictures with 'The New Body' (nicknamed it my camera) and record me what I actually want to experience when I visit the city proper, next time.
It's very nice to travel with others, so you can share memories and experiences, but it is also a challenge. Especially if you come from slightly different backgrounds and have very different expectations and desires for the trip. This was probably the case this time, and the result was that neither of us got done exactly what we wanted. Personally, I think that the culture and the food is the most important with experience at a new destination, and it was one of my most looking forward to at Melbourne. I do not think Mækkern 'has anything in image making. There are other "cheap" options. Maybe even healthier too, who knows ?! Anyway, what's the point of going to a new place, just to eat at Mækkern, which is the same everywhere else in the world. Waste ticket funenglish if you ask me ... But we travel together you get a little compromise. No tapas or Asian cuisine at me, no ... Defeat.
When I travel, I love to hear recommendations from the locals. Maybe this is how you get the real experience? Several lecturers scribbled down addresses and intersections on my map of Melbourne. Was much I should check out, and document, they were confident that this was my cup of tea. It was certainly too, but it remains to find out. I avoid major tourist excursions by pure instinct. Not my cup of tea. One does not know the people through a bus, and one does not experience culture in 70km / h. Yet I found myself out in a minibus filled with eager aisatere and screaming kids. Yezz, let's do it "cheap" and hail throughout the south coast in one day, so that we can take pictures from the road and say tell on facebook that we have been there. For me it is like a stopover in Singapore, it does not count! The guide was that guides most: engaged, repeating everything he says at least three times, loudly and with a large dose of dry humor. Charming! Do I get less patience whenever the others laugh out loud by the point he has already drawn several times. And if he calls me "keen photographer" again, I swear to God ... It was 600 mil, rain and TWELVE hours in bus. Twelve hours I could spent doing anything funenglish else. And all that, just to stop for a few minutes when we drove past the landmark 'Twelve Apostles'. Pretty but worth $ 100 and a day in my life that I will never get back? Hardly. A bit like a song by Øystein Sunde.
I work with images funenglish from the trip, struggling a bit to read files from "unknown type of camera." Bet that upgrades from Apple coming soon. If the images entertainer or turns out to be worth a buck, I'll stick on a smile from ear to ear! At soon reunion, Melb!
