My first MAT posts on the blog was from Tanjong Beach Club; stylish, buffet ideas hip and chic with cillout music speaker, sexy double sunbeds, ladies in bikini and high heels and Mojitos galore. But one should not more than 15 min in the taxi, so it feels like you are in a completely different world, or indeed, here in Sinagpore is it possible to feel one is in many different worlds within the same day - but today was the Little India I was in.
Together with two handsome ladies I've met here in Singapore; Annika and Trine let we headed to Little India with two goals for the day, look at Sari'er and dine at The Banana Leaf. Sari is something of what makes Little India (surely country India too) to a firework of colors; the traditional garment worn by women, and they are so beautiful! Pink, turquoise, purple, blue, pearls and sequins, gold and silver, skirts, dresses and shawls - gorgeous as far as the eye can see. But it is not only beautiful colors that makes you attracted Little India, for want one good Indian food, so are guaranteed buffet ideas here.
The Banana Leaf I heard for the first time in Stavanger, the day before I was going to move to Singapore from a Indian / Singaporean lady. After we moved down here just this restaurant has been mentioned time and again with nothing but warm recommendations. And well recommended was it!
We entered a not exactly fight cozy local little skeptical, we were at first glance, but there were lots of people - and it is always a good sign. We sat in the middle of a long table surrounded by other lunch guests and were given each of our banana leaf (banana leaf), which would act as plate. Precisely this is one of the hallmarks of this restaurant, that all food is served on large banana leaves.
With traditional food from both North and South India there was plenty good to choose from, and of course Naan bread in many variations. After I moved down here have "sharing platter" got a whole new meaning - almost wherever we are, we are ordering several dishes, putting the middle of the table and parts. That gets tasted so much more than just one thing, and it fits me perfectly! So did we today and our choices buffet ideas fell on Prawn Kadhai, Mutton Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, rice and various naan bread.
